Paperartsy Topic 22 - Masterboards

Hi everyone, hope your weekend is off to a good start. I'm scraping In On the PaperArtsy challenge of Masterboards which finishes tomorrow. I've always enjoyed doing these, and as soon as they're cut up into smaller pieces they look great and it's a quick way to make pieces for a few cards from one sheet.

I particularly enjoyed Chris Cresswell's Masterboards and the gorgeous busy backgrounds where she used lots of mixed media style stamps, I went for a similar busy background for my sheet which is my usual style for mixed media as I like lots of detail but I used mainly Christmas stamps or stamps from sets that I felt had a Christmas feel to them. I finished two cards but have enough pieces for several more which is good as I'm rapidly running out of time as usual!

I started off my Masterboards on an A4 piece of mixed media card using Fresco Finish paints randomly applied with sponges over the whole sheet

Next was to pick stamps and I chose PA Lynne Perrella stamps from sets 002, 003 and 016 and stamped them in various Luxe mixed media inks around the sheet turning the page as I stamped and aiming to have the larger stamps about three times on the page with more stampings of the smaller stamps and text stamp.

I added some final stamping over everything in snowflake paint to brighten it up.

I cut my piece up and then sponged all the edges with the deepest pink paint.

I used the Merry Christmas holly border stamp around the edges of the card in a deep purple ink to finish the cards off together with some Artcuts hearts painted in white and blue with sticklers over the top. An enjoyable make and good to work with a Masterboards as its one of my favourite ways to create.

Back soon,

Chris x

Stunning work of art. You make it look so simple and easy to do, but it's all in how you choose your stamp images to create the base. Your work is always so beautiful. Happy Holidays, Chris!
