Mixed media canvas

Hi everyone, hope your week is going well so far. I'm sharing, long overdue a mixed media canvas I made for my lovely friend Sandy in the USA, we have a mutual liking for messing around with paint etc. :D and these Christie Tomlinson style girls. I've mixed mine up with some patterned paper cut outs, die cuts, stenciling, stamping and rub-ons. There's some writing with black pen and from nowhere a cat has worked it's way in there. I wasn't aware of drawing a cat but it's in there :D, can you see it? It's just come out of the negative space I think but must be meant to be there as I think of Sandy with animals around her.

Today I received happy post from Sandy and the beautiful canvas that she made for me. It's very exciting to receive art pieces from friends and this one is now where I craft so I can look at it all the time. Isn't it beautiful and accomplished and it's Sandy's very first canvas.....can't tell you how happy I am to be the recipient of it. Thank you Sandy!

There is such a lot in this canvas, I can see all the thought and work that's gone into the making of it, all the lovely things that have made it personal to me too. In the garden of ..., the French prose at the top, it's perfect, I love the garden and flowers, even the kind of flowers I have are there too! A cat and birds and butterflys, I love all those and the easel too with the signed painting, that really made me laugh. That girl has my hair too, well almost ;D. love her dress as well.

I very much like how Sandy created the depth of field with the smaller flowers going back into the distance, all these colours are favourites but I have to apologise for the artificial light as I had to take the photo this evening. The blue in the background is a bit more greeny blue! I hope you're off to a good start with canvases now Sandy your first is very precious to me. x

Wow... I love your canvas Chris, love the story that comes with it! I love Sandy very much, and I can picture her with animals and butterflies around her, you captured her very well! I admire your drawing. love the colors and all the nice dimention. I can see the profile of a cat at the left of the canvas, (right of the little girl) but I can also see another profile at the bottom right, seems like a dog ! interesting...

And Sandy, Wow, I love the french title, yes I can picture Chris with such beautiful elements of nature surrounding her, painting in nature, with her cat? there is a cat at the bottom of the easel! a cardinal perched on top!
Well I did not meant to write on and on, but to say I enjoyed paying you a visit and love what I see.
Hugs.

Chris you are a women full of integrity in who you are and in your artwork! Both of the canvas's side by side are amazing and you are the one that inspires us to go for it.
I love the texture of those trees and the muted background, so peaceful. Those little words are so perfect for Sandy and you sure captured who she is.
Sandy's is similar as respects to the garden with the domestic animals, while yours is with wildlife. What I like about them both are the hidden shapes and words that you both have, I just can't stop admiring both of them.
What a wonderful swap you two did and a beautiful post you made for both canvas' artists.
Hugs,
Kelly

What a stunning canvas Chris.
I have stared at it for ages.
I do see the pussy cat. I love how you have put the wording. I wish I had the right words....but anyhow it is wonderful and my hubby Doug loves it too.
As for Sandy's first canvas it is just as wonderful. What a natural that lady is with her talent and her humour. Stunning.
