Summer of Creative Chemistry - week six

Hi everyone. I've joined in with week six of Tim Holtz Summer of Creative Chemistry at Online Card Classes which is all about layering stencils. I made a tag using the mixed media layering and layering with stamping for the two techniques required for the challenge this week.

Love how the ribbon came out using mustard seed distress stain to colour it, nice and bright and works with the little bit of yellow in the background.

I missed joining in with week five but may be I'll do that later.

Back soon,

Chris x

Summer of Creativity - Week 4

Hi everyone, I'm scraping in on week 4 of the Tim Holtz Summer of Creativity challenge at online card classes and this week the challenge is to use distress and archival inks.

This is a great technique (archival resist) and really does have the magic chemistry factor, it was good to try it out again.

Have a good week.

Tim Holtz Summer of Creativity week 3

Hi everyone, hope you had a good weekend. I've joined in on the third week h iTunes of revisiting Creative Chemistry 101, I think this is a great idea for inspiration has gone for a walk and practicing the techniques can help to get back into the flow. The challenge this time was to use distress stain or inks and mica powders, which I enjoyed and made a couple of tags with the techniques we looked at this time.

Thanks for stopping here today and I'll be back later in the week.

Summer of Creative Chemistry week 2

Hi everyone. I've joined in with week two of Tim Holtz Summer of Creative Chemistry at Online Card Classes and made a tag using several of the techniques for the challenge this week. The theme was distress stain and stamps.

I made distress sprays with re-inkers as layer one on the background followed by distress stain around the edges with water spritzing. Stage two was stamping with Archival followed by stamping with white distress stain. For the focal stamped image I made a custom ink pad and stamped the image with that, I really like this technique as it gives such a different look to a stamp. I've outlined the main part of the image with black pen.

The main image is stamped onto Ranger speciality stamping card and I splashed some distress stain around the edges, the card creates a nice watercolour finish with the stain.

I'm back on Friday, see you then :-)

Summer of Creative Chemistry 2016

Hi everyone, I'm joining in with Creative Chemistry 103 and the summer of Creative Chemistry with Tim Holtz, it's good to look back on the previous workshops and what I did for them with the different techniques.

This week it's distress ink and a challenge to use at least four distress inks with any of the distress ink techniques from the first two days. I've gone with wrinkle free distress which has always been a favourite although you can't see much if it after all the layers of stamping and remnant rubs on top.

I used more than four distress inks required in the newer colours and I stamped with them too using Tim Holtz Number Block stamps.

When I did the original Creative Chemistry 101 I kept very much to the basic techniques as shown in this post. This time I've used the technique as a base only and carried on to create a finished tag.

Back soon with some other bits and pieces as the workshop moves on hopefully,

Chris X
