Colour Create #38 – It’s our birthday

Hi everyone, it’s all celebration on Colour Create this challenge as we’re now one year old! There are fantastic prizes from our very generous sponsors including sets of stamps from Whimsy Stamps and Michelle’s Scrapbooking (a discount on purchases too!). There are also guest designer spots as part of the prize and blog candy on some of my DT friends blogs, and even nicer is our friend Tara and founder of the challenge is joining us with her gorgeous DT card for this challenge, hope you’ll pop over and join the party.

As my part of the prize I’ll be offering two single digital images from my digi shop and the winner will be randomly chosen from the commenters on this post.


Our colours for this challenge are red, white/off white, chocolate and pink and were picked by our lovely Di. Thanks Di it’s a gorgeous combo. The option this time is to use hearts and silver.

I’ve made a Valentine gift set. The little bird house gift box was made using a very sweet template from the MagnoliaINK magazine #1 and was very easy to put together. I stamped it with a Crafty Individuals music background stamp in walnut stain distress ink and also used some Crafty secrets stamps from the birds set. All the edges of the bird house and card are sponged with walnut stain and fired brick distress inks. There are some heart scalloped die cuts on the roof, a die cut frame on the circle entry, die cut and glittered hearts and buttons and all topped off with the big red ribbon bow. The card is made with the same stamps with the addition of the Tim Holtz love and frame stamps, flowers and punched leaves. For the silver element I’ve used silver stickles glue. The left side of the roof lifts up to put the gift inside, I’ve got red heart chocolates in mine. TFL and see you tomorrow with my DU2DS card.

Colour Create 36 – Kraft, blue and white

Hi everyone and welcome to the new challenge on Colour Create. This time the colours were picked by me so I hope you like them :D. There’s some amazing inspiration from my design team friends and a great prize sponsored by the Rubber room so I hope you can join us.

 

I’ve stamped the gorgeous Popcorn Bear from the Birthday Hugs set and water coloured with distress inks. There’s lots of stickles and copic spica glitter pen, faux stitching with a blue glitter gel pen and all the edges are sponged with tea dye distress ink. The other layers are strips of white card punched with the MS doily lace punch sponged on the edges with tea dye ink and the card base is from kraft card. I scored around the top of the image on my score board and then used a white gel pen in the groove, punched some slots either side for the blue toile ribbon and added some gems for a bit of sparkle, there’s also some glossy accents on the nose of the bear, the beak and feet of the duck for a bit more texture. Colour Create 35 – Lemon and Lime

Hi everyone, a new Colour Create challenge starts today with a lovely colour combo of lemon and lime with an option of spring or summer flowers chosen by our lovely Sharon so thanks Sharon, love these zingy colours! There’s some amazing cards from my DT friends and a great prize from Michelle’s Scrapbooking so I hope you can join us for this one.
I’ve stamped a sweet little girl from The Greeting Farm 'hope and grace' set that I haven’t managed to use before, coloured her with copics, cut out and added lots of sparkle with stickles and a glitter pen. The die cut nestie shape is embossed with a CB happy birthday folder, sanded, edged with lime ink and stickles and punched with a slot punch to add the dotty ribbon. Background paper is BasicGrey Lime Rickey, distressed and edged with stickles and the flowers are a stamp from the same Hope and Grace set, I stamped, coloured and cut out five of them, added buttons tied with lime green cord and stickles.

Colour Create 34 – Pink, Burgundy, Ivory

Hi everyone, time for another challenge on Colour Create and this week the combo is chosen by our lovely Dena (thanks Dena, it’s gorgeous!), the extra option is roses. There’s more amazing inspiration from my DT friends and a great prize from Simon Says Stamp so I hope you can join us.

My card has come out a much brighter red than it actually is, it’s much darker IRL. I’ve attemped a Christmas Wreath on the faux stitched and white ink edged Bazzil card blank made from punched hearts in ivory, pink and Magnolia roses paper which have been faux stitched. Added roses, dove ribbon, buttons, pearls, ribbon, perfect pearls and the Woodware sentiment to decorate. Have a good day today. TFL.

Colour Create 33 – Lavender/Purple, Aqua, White, Black

Hi everyone, our new challenge on Colour Create is a lovely combo of Lavender/Purple, Aqua, White and Black chosen by my lovely DT friend Deanne, such a pretty choice Deanne, thanks very much. There’s no optional extra for this challenge so it’s the colours and whatever you like. As always the girls have some amazing cards for the challenge so I hope you can pop over for a look and join us. My card is a straightforward one, I had in mind to make a batch of these……………yeah, right! I’ve cut out the Christmas tree shape from an SVG file on the Cricut which is made to fit the Cuttlebug christmas tree embossing folder. The die cut was then embossed with the folder and I also cut a mat layer from black card and sponged the edges with white ink. The background is more white card embossed with the Cuttlebug snow embossing folder and I’ve finished off with lots of stickles in blue and lilac/purple, some bows, a toile bow and some gems. Think I would have liked this better if I’d left it white as I sprayed the white card with pearl glimmer mist so it’s nice and sparkly without anything else, a shame it doesn’t show in the photo. I’m also entering this into the Cuttlebug Challenge where the theme this week is glitter, Daring Cardmakers where the challenge is white Christmas, hope I can get away with this, my card is mainly white :) and SCSC has a theme of Christmas trees. Colour Create 31 – white, blue and silver

Hi everyone, time for a new challenge on Colour Create. This time our combo has been chosen by Karen and is a gorgeous choice of blue, silver and white, thanks Karen, I loved this one, they’re a perfect set of colours for Christmas. The options this time are winter and glitter but these aren’t compulsory. My DT friends have some amazing cards for this challenge and I hope you can join us. Our sponsor is Handy Hippo so there’s a lovely prize to be won.

I’ve made a gatefold card and used a new Motivet stamp from their Christmas range available at the Craft Barn. Colouring is with copics and the paper is Imaginisce, I think this one is so pretty but it’s actually the reverse side of the main pattern, I love the blue. The image is cut out with a Nestabilities die and I’ve edged it with silver ink. I added some punched snowflakes, a Craftwork Cards greeting, ribbon and gems to finish. TFL.

Colour Create Challenge 30 - All White

Hi everyone, there's a new challenge today on Colour Create and I'm a bit late with my post I'm afraid! This time our theme of All White with a coloured image is chosen by Heather, thanks Heather, we all loved this one and all the DT cards are amazing! There's no optional extra which is just as well as I'd completely forgotten to check :D! Hope you can join us and there's a great prize of a $25 gift certificate from our sponsor Simon Says Stamp so, even more reason to join in.

I've made an 4 inch easel card from white textured card. and then I've scored a criss cross grid on my score board and highlighted with dots of stardust stickles. The image is my Poinsettia digi stamp which is printed out on watercolour paper and painted with distress inks. The image is cut out around the top and I've added some different sized yellow gems for the centre and some stickles here and there. To finish I popped on a die cut Happy Christmas sentiment. TFL.

Colour Create 27 - Neon Green and Black

Hi everyone, a card today for Colour Create Challenge and a lovely combination chosen by Jo of Neon Green and Black with an option of leaves. Thanks Jo, I love these colours and enjoyed working with them. I have to own up to forgetting our option this time which is leaves but I'm hoping that the fleur de lis looks enough like leaves to get away with it :D. My DT friends have come up with some amazing projects with these colours, I just love them all and I hope you can join us this time.

My card is made using a nestability fleur de lis shapeabilities die and I've cut them in alternate pieces of black and green bazzil card then layered them up on mounting foam. The edges of the card blank are sponged with black distress ink and I've added some black half pearls and some green ones that I coloured with a copic marker. There's a little black wire and chiffon butterfly as the last layer which you might be able to see if you click on the picture, it hasn't come out too clearly. Colour Create 26 - Ruby, Cream and Gold - Option Gems

Hi everyone, hope you're all well. This is a scheduled post as I'm not around for a few days, hopefully this and tomorrow's will appear. Our challenge on Colour Create this time is my choice and I picked Ruby, Cream and Gold with an option of gems. Our sponsor for this challenge is Simon Says Stamp. I hope you like the colours and I look forward to visiting you soon to see your gorgeous creations. My DT friends have made some absolutely superb cards and I'm happy to say that they all enjoyed the colours too.

I made a card and gift bag set which are cut from dark red Bazzil card. The bag was cut on the Cricut and then after stamping randomly with a Stempelglede grunge flower stamp in metallic gold ink was glued together, decorated with cream half pearls, a sticky back gem motif and some pearl covered gold ribbon for the handle. I did the same with the card and then edged them both with the metallic gold ink pad. See you tomorrow (I hope) with my Dare U2 Digi card. TFL. Chris x

Colour Create 25 - Blue, Sand, Silver and Black, CCT #73, Our Creative Corner, Allsorts, ABC

Hi everyone, a card today for our next challenge on Colour Create which this time is a combo of Blue, Sand, Silver and Black with an optional theme of Summer and our sponsor this week is Handy Hippo who have generously given 5 vouchers for 10% off any purchases made from their shop, even more reason to enter this time :). We have a new team member joining us, so a big welcome to Deanne who makes the most beautiful cards, it's lovely to have you with us Deanne! You'll be spoiled for inspiration from my DT friends this time, truly amazing cards from everyone.

I'm also entering this card for Cute Card Thursday where the challenge is 'At the beach', and Our Creative Corner where there's an inspiration challenge that fits with the colours I've used, Allsorts Challenge where the theme is vintage and as I've used lace and distressing I think it fits :), ABC challenge where it's the letter A and anything goes although I haven't used the option which is animals.

I've used a Kadoodle stamp 'ice cream days' for this card and she's watercoloured with distress inks and glittered with some stickles. Everthing is matted on black bazzil card doodled around the edges with a silver pen. The other layers are embossed with a cb swirls embossing folder, sanded then rubbed over with silver metallic paste. To decorate I added a gem swirl which I split so that I could have some at the top and some at the bottom, a rub on sentiment, some sand coloured lace and blue pearls. Hope everyone's blogger probs are sorted out now, I've been able to make a post today which is a relief and all the blogs I follow are back, hopefully it'll settle now until the next problem arises :D. Colour Create Challenge 24 - Pink, Orange, Green

Hi everyone, my card for Colour Create Challenge today where this time there's a lovely colour combo of pink, orange and green with an option of hearts picked by my DT friend Dena, a lovely choice I think so thanks Dena, I enjoyed doing this one. There's gorgeous inspiration from everyone on the team so I hope you'll pop over there, have a look and join us for the challenge, there's a lovely prize on offer this week from our sponsor Crafty Ribbons so even more reason to join in.

I've made a little flower pot pocket card, I really love these, they're so cheerful, I got the instructions to make it from Split Coast Stampers and they're very easy to make. I forgot to take a photo showing the greeting tag part of the card outside of the pocket, will try and get another photo for that. I found some pretty paper with orange, pink and green which is Sonomo by Scenic Route, I used this for the bottom of the flower pot and I also cut out some of the flowers from the paper and used these for the decoration at the top. The base card is green bazzil and I've punched a border on the pot rim with a Fiskers apron lace punch. The sentiment on the tag is by Penny Black and I added some orange BG Tulle to keep the card closed, some buttons, embroidery floss and a little silver heart charm to finish off. TFL. Chris x

Colour Create Challenge 23 - Blue and White

Hi everyone, a card today for Colour Create where this week our colours are chosen by Mina, thanks Mina, I loved them and really enjoyed working with the theme choice of Vintage too. We've also been joined this week by our new team member Janniel, who's an extremely talented lady, it's good to have you on the team Janny! We also have sponsors from this fortnight onwards which is good with some great prizes to be won, so even more reason to join in the challenge. I've used a Penny Black stamp for this card, one of their Victorian style stamps that seemed to go with the vintage theme and it's water coloured with distress inks. The background paper might be BasicGrey, I threw away the bottom strip before I read what it was :D. I added a square doily for a bit more of a vintage look, roses, prima flowers and the leaves and flower centre stamens were a pressie from my friend Tara (x), these have been sponged around the edges. I finished off with a bit of Star Dust stickles for some sparkle. TFL. Chris x

Colour Create Challenge 22

Hi everyone, hope you're all well, I haven't quite melted yet but I'm close, hope you're all surviving! Time for another Colour Create challenge and this week the colours are Grass Green, Apple Green, Sunflower Yellow, Lemon and White with the option of decorating your card inside and out plus the envelope. I hope you can join us this week for this lovely summery combination and when you visit the blog you'll see some fabulous cards from all my DT friends, they're all so beautiful. You'll also see when you visit there are going to be some changes but I'll leave you to read about that yourselves when you pop over.

I've used some absolutely adorable little Elzybells bears and this set comes with the bears, the present and sentiments too. I've coloured with markers and pencils and the unopened present has been cut out and mounted on dimension tape. The colourful backgrounds (hope you've got your shades on) were created with distress inks sponged onto white card, spritzed with water from a mister and then dried with a heat gun which gives the mottled effect. All the edges have been sponged with walnut stain ink. There's a bit of light sponging with all the colours around the bear with the balloons and around the sentiment on the front of the card too. I added a thin ribbon, some stickles and stamped the envelope with the present stamp in the ink colours used for the background.

I just wanted to mention that I still haven't been able to resolve the problems I've been having with blogger but thank you to everyone for their suggestions when I asked a question about it a few posts back. My problem isn't Internet Explorer as I don't use it but I've now had to take away my followers box as someone suggested that this might be a cause. Apologies for this, I really didn't want to do it but I've been having so much hassle when I try to add anything to my sidebar and this is the answer for that. It's also been mentioned that my blog doesn't load properly for some people and I still can't moderate my comments individually, I've still to track down why that's happening. TFL. Chris x

Colour Create Challenge 20

Hi everyone, Thursday and time for another Colour Create challenge! This week there's a lovely fruity colour combo for you and your choice to pick three colours from Strawberry, Raspberry, Kiwi, Tangerine and Blackberry with the option of incorporating fruits into your image, patterned paper, embellishments and or sentiment. Hope you can join us this week as there's some great inspiration from the design team to get you started.

I've chosen Blackberry, Raspberry and Kiwi for my combination and used a Penny Black silhouette fruity stamp which I inked with distress inks using a paint brush and then stamped onto water colour paper. The image is matted with Core'dinations card and I've punched some flowers from the same card and arranged around the bottom of the black card blank. Added a ribbin, rub on sentiment, gems to the flower centres and doodled dots with a pink sparkle gel pen to finish. TFL. Chris x

Colour Create Challenge 19

Hi everyone, Colour Create Challenge day and this week there's a lovely combination of blush pink, lilac and mossy green with an option of die cuts chosen by the lovely and very talented Georgia (Tara's DD), thank you Georgia, I loved your choice, such gorgeous colours and theme. This week we welcome a new team member, the lovely Dena who makes the most beautiful cards, great to have you on the team with us Dena, I've admired your cards for a while now after finding your blog from the challenges, I hope you enjoy yourself.

I seem to have a very rubbish photograph of this card, one of those I just couldn't get right, probably because the card blank is frosted acetate which doesn't help but is pretty IRL and came from my win of the Cuttlebug Challenge and the sheetloads acetate pack which is gorgeous. I glimmer misted the card blank with Lavender Fields first to try and give an impression of rain or water so it's got a nice soft shimmer. The big flower is a Cricut die cut in lilac coredinations card which is also glimmer misted, sanded and then glittered around the edges with the addition of the rub on sentiment. This sweet umberella Anya that I got from Tabbycrafts (thank you for the fantastic fast service Tab, much appreciated) is coloured with markers and pencils and then cut out and attached over the panel of green card which is border punched on both edges. The ribbon is wound round the back of the panel, threaded through the hole in the flower and tied, this is then mounted with dimension tape and the Anya mounted on glue gel on top of that. I've dotted lots of stickles around the card for raindrops, all round the edges too and finished off with some pink pearls.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else is having a really bad time with blogger at the moment? I can no longer moderate my comments in the normal way from the dashboard screen, having to have them emailed and I can't move anything around in my sidebars either. Visiting blogs hasn't been easy I keep getting a flicking screen to the sign in and then off again! TFL. See you tomorrow with my DU card. Chris x

Colour Create Challenge 18 - Rainbow Colours

Hi everyone, the new day of the week for Colour Create challenge  is now Thursday and here we are on Challenge 18, I can't believe how quick the weeks are going by. This week we have a great colour combo of Rainbow colours with an option of create a scene. Hope you can join us and when you pop over to the challenge you'll find some fantastic inspiration from my DT friends, I loved them all. Sadly Judy is leaving us this week, I'll miss you Judy and seeing your gorgeous cards on CC each week, I hope that you'll come back some time when you're able to but will see you in blogland. It's also a hello today to our new member Di who makes beautiful cards that I've admired since I found her blog, hope you enjoy yourself Di and it's great to have in the team with us.

I've made my little scene with stamps from a Penny Black Teddies clear stamps set. I used a big stamping block and placed the stamps around it then stamped them all at once. I did the colouring with markers and pencils, doodled in some grass and pink flowers and sponged the edges with black. The image is matted on bright green coredinations card which I've punched with a zig zag MS punch. There weren't going to be any flowers on this card originally, just the scene and a sentiment, I dropped the ink pad, so in the words of the band 10cc, "they hide a nasty stain that's lying there" :D TFL and see you tomorrow with my DU card. Colour Create Challenge 17

Morning everyone, hope you're all enjoying the weekend so far. Time for another Colour Create Challenge where this week the colours are Lemon, Pink Sorbet and Chocolate with an option of Shabby Chic picked by Katy, thanks Katy, loved this one. There's so much inspiration and interpretations of the option from my DT friends this week, hope you can pop over for a look and join us for this one. 

THIS IS THE LAST COLOUR CREATE CHALLENGE TO TAKE PLACE ON A SUNDAY. WE ARE MOVING TO A THURSDAY SLOT FROM 4TH OF JUNE, so you will have a little bit longer to come up with your entries for this week. In order to mark the change we will be giving away some candy for the first Thursday challenge, so don't forget to tune in!

Also some sad news this week, my lovely blog buddy Kim is leaving the team due to her family and work commitments. I'll miss her very much on the team, she's a huge inspiration to us all and will be missed by us all. Good luck with everything at Magnolia Kim and I hope you have lots more cuddling time for your gorgeous Grandchildren :)

The background card is embossed with a cb folder then sanded and distressed around the edges. I did some sponging with vintage photo ink and added the lace, pearls and torn sentiment panel. Colour Create Challenge 16

Hi everyone, hope your weekend is going well. Time for another Colour Create Challenge where this week we have a gorgeous combo of Sky Blue, Tan and Ecru with an option of glitter/gloss/glaze chosen by our lovely Kim. Thanks Kim, I really enjoyed this one, I think these are my new fave colours even though it was touch and go if I had any paper that matched the colours but the lovely BG Wisteria came to the rescue. I love glitter, can't seem to make a card without it so this one was perfect for me. Hope you can join us this week and there's some fantastic inspiration from the girls to get you going with these lovely colours.

For my project this week I've decorated a ring bound canvas covered sketch book. I tore a piece of BG Wisteria paper and glued it bottom left and top right of the cover, sanded it around the edges and then painted around and over it in places with Antique Linen crackle distress paint. When the paint was dry and cracked I sponged over with distress inks in tea dye and vintage photo stain and rubbed off again with kitchen paper to bring the linen colour back again. The letters were cut on the cricut, glued to the book and stamped over the top with a text stamp and the same inks, also stamped the text over the rest of the book at an angle. All the letters are outlined with a blue sparkle gel pan and then I've dabbed Distress Stickles glue in vintage photo randomly over everything and dabbed off more in some places than others. To finish off I added some gems and pearls and all the ribbons to the ring binder with some bead trim and paper roses. TFL and enjoy your Sunday. Chris x

Colour Create Challenge 15

Hi everyone my card today for the Colour Create Challenge where this week we have a lovely combination of Blue and Green with an option of paper piecing chosen by our lovely Heather, thanks Heather, I really enjoyed this one, favourite colours of mine and the paper piecing well, I got really carried away and pieced the whole stamp apart from the face, hair and teddy! The girls have come up with some amazing cards again this week and some wonderful tones of the colours in their papers for inspiration so I hope you can join in. We also have Juliet joining the DT from this week, I've admired her cards for a long time so a big welcome to you Juliet.

I've used a Penny Black stamp and as I said I've paper pieced just about everything with BG Lime Rickey and Sugared papers and shaded with distress inks, a bit of stickles on there too, can't seem to make a card without it! I used the same papers for the background panels as in the piecing and I distressed all the edges and sponged them too. Added some gingham ribbon which I'm not too sure about now that I've uploaded the card :( and a little button that was part of a pressie from Martine (thank you sweetie). Colour Create Challenge Fourteen

Hi everyone and welcome to another Colour Create Challenge. This week the colours Chocolate, Red and Cream, a very yummy combo chosen by our lovely Mina and the option this week is ribbons, lots of my favourite things here, thanks Mina, I really enjoyed this one. Hope you can join us this week and if you need some inspiration pop over to the blog because the girls creations are amazing! A big welcome also to our guest designer Juliet who's cards are wonderful. 

I've used a sweet Penny Black image which has been watercoloured with distress inks. The cream background card is stamped with a Personal Impressions corner flourish stamp in chocolate ink. The red panel is punched with an MS scalloped border and wrapped with some lace. Added the flowers with chocolate coloured brads, ribbons and gems to finish.
