Craft Barn Mixing Media Club - Gelato's and May Craft Stamper Magazine

Hi everyone and Happy Easter. I don't have anything Easter related to show today but I do have photo's of some of the samples for my Craft Barn Mixing Media class for March which was held last Monday.

It was a Faber Castell Gelato (stick watercolour) play day and we had fun using them in lots of ways. Above is a little hanging that was simple to make using a Tim Holtz Sizzix Postage bigs die and card for the panel. Initially the gelato in contrasting colours are simply applied with fingers and baby wipes followed up with adding and subtracting through stencils. After that it's stamping with Kaisercraft stamps for the main images and texture stamping with black ink.

Applying gelato to the stamp direct, spritzing then stamping gives lovely effects depending on how much water is sprayed, Kaisercraft texture stamps work perfectly for this either solid or quite fine detailed, the results are always good and the ATC (artist trading card) above shows up the detail.

Heavily applying Gelato over stenciled texture paste is another good technique, here I've used purple with a bit of pink for variance in the colour. Metallic Gelato's are great for adding highlights over the texture and here I used a gold and silver direct from the stick. The colour was also applied over the dragonfly and sentiment, it's excellent for building up on die cut embellishments and also for colouring ribbon as shown here in the tag.
We also tried them in water to spray and with glazes and crackle medium, they're quite versatile.
I'm thrilled as always to have a couple of projects in the May issue of Craft Stamper magazine which is out on The 1st April and I've enjoyed some gorgeous articles from my team mates too.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Craft Stamper December Issue

Hi everyone, Hope you've had a good week. The December issue of Craft Stamper is in the shops today and I'm thrilled to bits to be on the cover this month with my mixed media tag featuring Clare Lloyd's sweet stamp set for PaperArtsy Eclectica (Clare Lloyd) 08 as part of the stamping contrasts monthly feature.

The stamp set is a great design with some funny sentiments and accessory stamps that I always find useful in a set.

There are gorgeous makes from my team-mates, a Christmas Origami wreath from me and as well as being available in high street shops it can be ordered online from the Craft Stamper website shop it's also available as a download from PocketMags.

Back soon with another mixed media canvas.
