Paperbabe Stamps Challenge 96 - Spots and Stripes

Hi everyone, hope you've had a good week. There's a new challenge today on the Paperbabe Stamps Blog where the theme this time is 'spots and stripes'.

I made a card for a lovely friend using the gorgeous new Profile Face Right Dinky Stamp Set and the Mixed Media Template Set Profile Face Right these are for sale at an incredible price at the moment.

I started off this project with a left over gel print that had some splashes of gold paint in with some pink and peach toned distress Oxide inks. I'm enjoying using some WOW Pearl Gold Sparkle embossing powder at the moment as it's the first one I've found that keeps it's sparkle. I used it for the spots element of the challenge sponging embossing ink through a medium spot stencil and then embossing with the powder.

The stripes element is added by scraping out some stripes with a craft knife from the gold cardstock which has kraft core and I really like the texture this gives. The colouring is Prismacolor Pencils over a base of Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic in Nougat and Terracotta.

I hope you'll join us in the challenge, there's a lovely prize from Kim for the winner.

Have a great weekend!

Paperbabe Stamps Release Day

Hi everyone, I hope you've had a good week. I'm sharing my makes with the gorgeous new Paperbabe stamps Peony and bud set which Kim is introducing in a new larger clear stamp format. All the details are on the Paperbabe stamps blog with gorgeous inspiration from Kim.

I went down a mixed media media route with the stamps and played with my small gelli plate which is great as you can easily put it on a stamp block and use it as large stamp.

I've used Fresco Finish paints in the translucent colours which keeps things nice and bright over my the thick white cartridge paper. I've brayered the paints onto the gelli plate before stamping the peony stamp, bud and leaves in various order and I was pleased with the results even with the very close patterned peony image.

Of course I made quite a few prints, it's addictive once you start and then I over stamped with the peony in black ink. I've finished off with doodling in black and white pens before making up cards and tags and I have a couple of leftover pieces too.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Origami Christmas makes

Hi everyone, I'm sharing some some more Craft Barn Christmas Club makes and into these makes I've worked in some origami made from my gelli plate prints over stamped with a Stampendous snowflake stamp set.

My gelli prints were made using DecoArt Media fluid acrylics in various colours some of which were green gold, quinacridone gold, cadmium yellow, quinacridone red, primary magenta, cobalt teal and ultramarine simply laid down with a brayer. I made up the wreaths and the background for the card from cut down pieces of the gelli prints and added some acetate to the centre of the small wreath to have a floating snowflake in the middle. By varying the sizes of the interlocking segments different sized wreaths can be created.

I added die cut snowflakes to decorate, these were also cut from leftover pieces of the prints.

I'm entering my makes into the anything goes no 65 challenge at Inspiration Destination challenge blog and the challenge 26 anything creative/mixed media challenge at love to create challenge blog.

If you're preparing for Christmas I hope you're getting there, I still have lots to do tomorrow. If I don't manage another post over Christmas and you celebrate then I wish you a happy and peaceful time.
