Craft Barn Mini Album Competition Day 1

Morning everyone! Here's sketch one for the Craft Barn Mini Book competition and what I did with the first sketch which is the front cover. I decided to make my mini book of a holiday to Corfu using BasicGrey Marrakech papers combined with Inkadinkado Gem stone flowers stamps, Faded Jeans Distress ink and Typhoon Bazzil card. The writing is done with a Viva Decor pearl pen, There's a scalloped rectangle nestability to frame the photo, some prima flowers and pretty ribbons to decorate. Back tomorrow with page 2. TFL.

BasicGrey Challenges 13 - Sketch

Hi everyone and wishing you all a happy weekend. Another BasicGrey challenge starts today, I don’t know where the weeks are going! This time we have a great sketch designed by our lovely Martine and it’s one that I’ll be keeping in my stash with all her others :), thanks Martine! I realise now that I completely lost the plot with the underneath layers  :) oops! As always there’s superb inspiration from my DT friends and some gorgeous takes on the sketch (correctly done :) and images used. I’m also entering my card into these challenges: ABC challenge with a theme of ‘new’ using new stash, my focal image is from a Crafty Individuals book ‘nature’s beauty’ which has just come out and is available at the Craft Barn and I got this recently. La La Land Crafts has a heart theme and there are a few of those on my card.
I used the pretty dragonfly image from the image book and I inked around the edges with distress ink, matted on white and placed some gems cut from a prima gem swirl over the top. The card is a gatefold shape, I’ve used BG Marrakech paper, two die cut trellises on either side, die cut border and heart all of which were sponged around the edges with Walnut stain and Milled Lavender distress ink. To finish off I glittered the heart with chunky glitter, added the gem, pearl pin, lemon tulle, leaf ribbon, flowers, Melissa Frances resin corner and the little sentiment tags (Elzybells stamps). I decorated the inside too but forgot to take a photo of that :)!
I forgot to mention earlier that Winter Wonderland Challenge Blog is holding a week long blog hop this week with lots of prizes to be won, it finishes tonight at 6pm so there’s still time to do it. As ever I’m way behind with commenting……… same old story from me, apologies. TFL.

BasicGrey Challenge 31 - Paper Piecing

Hi everyone, another Saturday ( it came round very quickly!) and another Challenge at BasicGrey!

"This weeks challenge is is a firm favourite for allot of people (including me), so for this weeks challenge we would like to see some paper piecing in your creations :), please remember though that you must use at least one item from BasicGrey somewhere in your creation, and most of all have fun creating"

I've used a gorgeous new Bollywood dancer digital image Surahbi by my friend Sandra at Sandra Dry Digital Designs and she's one of four dancers and an amazing background image in her new Bollywood Set. I think they're all brilliant and a great excuse to break out the bling! I printed the image and coloured her with markers and cut her out. I've used Marrakech paper for the background and also paper pieced Surahbi's little top with it. I added gold stickles for her jewels and attached her with glue gel. The die cut Labels one nestie pieces and Sizzix die cut corner are in gold mirror card. The inner nestie panel is pale blue bazzil which is embossed with the Paisley CB folder and sponged over and around the edges with distress ink. The blue metallic ribbon is threaded through a sparkly blue button which still has it's shank attached so I've put a couple of glue dots under to hold it in place.TFL and see you tomorrow with my Colour Create card. Frilly Flowers

Hi everyone, hope you all enjoyed your weekend and that all the Mum's had a lovely day yesterday. A card today for Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and a theme of 'favourite colour'. I seem to be enjoying a lot of orangey colours lately so I think it's my current favourite and I love it teamed with blue. So, the BasicGrey Marrakech paper was the starting point, I've distressed the edges of my piece and wrapped it with the orange satin ribbon. I've used my Kadoodle design 'Frilly Flowers' available at the Craft Barn and watercoloured with Ranger distress inks. The image is cut out with square nestabilities and I've used the corresponding scalloped square for the blue layer. Decorated with paper flower, punched leaves, gems, stickles on the flowers and leaves and a Woodware sentiment. TFL. Chris x
