The Craft Barn - Wishing Well

Hi everyone! It's wishing well day on the Craft Barn Blog today and even better it's wishing well WEEK, things are changing as the Wishing Well also becomes a new challenge and also there are going to be followers prizes, the more followers the bigger the prizes but I'll leave it to Isabelle who's explained it all beautifully on the blog.

This week's wish is all about pencils and how to colour with them and for today I've done a pencil colouring step by step PDF using the House Mouse image that's on my gift card above.  Coming up for the rest of the week are beautiful projects by my DT friends Michelle and Isa that shouldn't be missed, absolutely gorgeous creations. Hi everyone just popping on with a few cards and a canvas made the Craft Barn today using some gorgeous Katzelkraft stamps. All the materials used are on the Craft Barn Blog and some gorgeous samples from my team mates too.

The Craft Barn DT Project - Alterting

Hi everyone and here I am a day late (whoops!) with my Friday DT Altering project for the Craft Barn blog. I thought I had this one scheduled but when I looked today there it was still in drafts :), so apologies to my team mates for that.

Everyone has made gorgeous projects for this post, I hope you can pop over for a look and there's a fantastic altered tin by Isa with a step by step on how she made it.

My bird box materials list is on the blog and briefly, it's painted with Ecogreen acrylic paints and glue to make the crackle paint effect. When it was all dry it was stamped with Katzelkraft stamps from the nature plate using Stazon ink. I decorated pearl pens, stickles, glitter, distress ink and glossy accents. I love the shape of this bird box, I think it's the elongated lines of it and I might have to do another one soon, I really enjoyed it.

Well I hope your Christmas preparations are going OK, we've had several more inches of snow here today in the South East which doesn't help getting around. Stay warm :)

Another wishing well day at the Craft Barn blog today and this time we're using Friendly Plastic which is a wish granted for Christa-Peter who wins a prize for having her question picked and wanted to know what could be done with it.  On the Craft Barn Blog there are wonderful tutorials by Michelle and Isa and the chance of a prize for leaving a comment to let everyone know what you think :).

The materials list for my card is on the blog and to make my Friendly Plastic centre piece I heated the FP with my heat gun and then stamped into it with the Crafty Individuals tree stamp. I left the stamp in the plastic until it had cooled before removing it.

Craft Barn DT project - Handmade flowers

Hi everyone! It's all about handmade flowers on the Craft Barn Blog today and Dawn has done a lovely step by step on how she makes her beautiful blooms which can be downloaded from the Craft Barn website as a pdf if you'd like to make them. My DT friends have also made their own gorgeous versions of handmade flowers so there's plenty of inspiration.

I made a poinsettia flower as part of my shadow box frame using Sizzix Alterations Tattered leaves die which I've seen around on the internet beautifully done using fabric to make it. My flower is made from cream card and spritzed with distress ink and mica powder mixtures. The materials list and how I made it details are all on the Craft Barn blog. Have a lovely Friday.

Craft Barn Wishing Well - Shrink Plastic

Hi everyone! Another wishing well day at the Craft Barn blog today and this time we're using shrink plastic which is a wish granted for Christine C who wins a prize for having her question picked and wanted to know about inks etc., that can be used on shrink plastic.  On the Craft Barn Blog there's a wonderful tutorial by Kay with lots of her gorgeous samples using different colouring mediums on the shrink together with a beautiful sample and 'how to' from Isa for another completely different look :D.


I used alcohol ink on my shrink plastic after die cutting it with Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations dies and used it to decorate a large wooden peg. Craft Barn Wishing Well - Alcohol Inks and Eco Friendly Paints

Hi everyone it's the Craft Barn Wishing Well day today and the DT were challenged by Melsh to show techniques using alcohol inks. Melsh also wins a prize as her question was chosen, congrats -Melsh!. The box I've made uses alcohol inks with Eco Friendly acrylic paint on chipboard and I've made a step by step which is over on The Craft Barn blog and if you add a comment on the post then there's another chance to win a prize! My DT friend Isa has also made a piece using this technique which is beautiful and using a different colour option. The wishing well remains open for suggestions to the team. Craft Barn - Altering

Hi everyone and a late post from me for a Craft Barn DT project to alter a paper mache pencil box. Three of us received the pencil box and it's great to see how different we all made them look. I hope you'll pop over to the blog to see the gorgeous designs by Dawn and Poupette and there's another lovely treat from Jane who altered some of the paper mache letters to spell her name using decopatch, they're beautiful.

I used to have a pencil case many years ago that was red leather look with gold embossed lines so I tried to re-create it using the Eco Green Paris Trunk Red Leather Ink with Cut 'n' Dry foam which went onto the paper mache beautifully. I added the lines using a ruler and gold gel pen, stamped the little rose from Paper Artsy Flora and Fauna set in gold ink and re-coloured the fastener with gold alcohol ink. The inside is coated with Viva Inca Gold paste and when it was dry I sprayed with a coat of clear semi-gloss varnish so it has a lovely sheen to it.
