Craft Barn DT project

Hi everyone, hope you're all well today and looking forward to the weekend. I have another project for the Craft Barn today and this time Isabelle challenged us to make an ATC and incorporate some micro beads, I've used mine to make a topper for another of my little boxes and used the Paper Artsy and Crafty Individuals clock stamps. I have one more box from the set of three to decorate, I'm trying to do them all with a clocks theme. My DT friends have made some gorgeous ATCs, all very different, I hope you can pop over and have a look and if you'd like to win a little prize of  micro beads and embossing powder you can join in the challenge too by creating your own ATC and entering it in the link by midnight on 10th November.

Here's a list of the products I used for my ATC:Eco green white acrylic paint
cosmic shimmer mist bronze blush and midnight blue
Beadazzles, waltz
Paper Artsy Stamps, clocks 1
Crafty Individuals stamps, clock faces
blue metal sheet
glossy accents
black soot distress ink
gold pearl pen
stickles glitter glue
metal tools

Have a good Friday!

BasicGrey Challenges 29 - Sketch

Hi everyone, long time no blogging for me due to work on the house so I hope you're all well and it's nice to be posting at last. We have a new challenge on BasicGrey Challenges which is a gorgeous sketch to work from by our lovely Tara G, thanks T! As always there's fantastic inspiration from my DT friends and a wonderful prize from our sponsor Simon Says Stamp so I hope you can join us. A reminder that our DT call ends tonight at 11pm GMT so if you're interested in joining us on the DT here is the post with all the information.

For my card I've flipped the sketch round and done my stamping in the square element  with a Paper Artsy stamp and distress ink, the background on the stamped piece is also distress inks smoothed on to the card with a baby wipe. For the circular element I've used a free sentiment stamp from Craft Stamper magazine stamped onto acetate. Background papers are from the BG Boxer collection, I used a Martha Stewart punch for the border and lots of flowers and Martha Stewart punched leaves to decorate. Have a good Saturday.

SL3 10 and SSSS 2

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend. Rain, rain and more rain here :(! Scraping in on the last day on Linda's Studio L3 challenge 10 Distress Stickles and Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge 2 Wendy Vecchi challenge with my tag. I've taken the acrylic flower from Wendy's blog as my inspiration and cut my acrylic with the TH grunge flower die then stamped over with a polka dot background stamp. The flower layer underneath is cut from grunge paper and I've used the distress stickles technique from the Compendium of Curiosities on that. The tag is also cut from acrylic and the background created with alcohol inks and then I've layered it over some kraft card. Finished off with more distress stickles, ribbon, pearls, a round mirror tile for the flower centre, some hand cut embossed and sanded  green metal leaves and a Paper Artsy text stamp. Enjoy your Sunday and thanks as always for your comments.

Craft Barn DT card

Hi everyone, hope you’re all well and had a good day today. It’s the colour theme day on the Craft Barn blog and this time it’s all about yellow. I’m a day late with my post I’ve just realised, so apologies to the CB blog for that! Hope you can pop over and see the gorgeous creations from my DT friends.

I’ve made a tag this time which I sponged with mustard seed and vintage photo distress ink . Over this I stamped one of the flowers from the Abstract set by Personal Impressions several times around the left side with vintage sepia versafine ink and I  added some rock candy, fruit punch  and yellow stickles to the stamping for a bit of sparkle. The gorgeous dragonfly from PaperArtsy Top and Tail 2 was stamped with Stazon timber brown onto acetate and then cut out and glittered with stickles on the underside. To finish off I placed a row of yellow gems along the bottom edge and doodled some dots with a copic clear spica glitter pen. I know yellow isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I love it and it makes me think of spring.

It’s the Craft Barn Spring Mini Fest on Saturday which I’m very much looking forward to and I’ll be demonstrating distress ink water colouring and some very cute stamps :). If you’re in the area and have a chance to pop in it’ll be lovely to say hello. TFL.

Still on Christmas with PaperArtsy!

Hi everyone, hope you’re having a good week! Are you snowed in? We have about 8 inches of the white stuff here so we’re staying put!
This is a little Christmas tree ornament project I did before Christmas for the Craft Barn blog DT with some gorgeous PaperArtsy stamps, Ferro texture paste and precious metal paints and they were lovely to work with, I enjoyed doing it and made three of them.
Started off with a plain white chipboard arch which I covered on the right hand side with the Viva Decor Ferro texture paste in silver. While the paste was still wet I stamped into it with the Christmas tree stamp from PaperArtsy Egg and Nog 10 and I also pressed in the rows of gems at the edges at this point and allowed it dry. The whole thing was then painted with Viva precious metal paints in Azure blue and emerald green and while this was still wet I sprinkled on some green flock powder. When everything was dry I applied some Ranger Distress crackle Rock Candy paint over the left hand side and some Rock candy stickles and let it dry overnight. I used the poinsettia flower from the same Egg and Nog set, stamped it onto grunge paper cut it out then painted it with the precious metal paints, I added some perfect pearls powder while still wet. It was then curved a bit and glued to the arch with a gemstone for the centre.
To finish off I threaded some beads onto a jewellery head pin, curved a loop at the top of it and threaded through a hole near the bottom of the arch made with a piercing tool, I also added a loop of fibre through the pre-formed hole at the top to hang it on the tree. It sounds like a bit of a process but it was quite quick to make apart from allowing the crackle glaze to dry overnight and I made two of them in an evening. Take care and keep warm!

Colour Create Challenge 10 - Duck Egg Blue and Rose

Hi everyone and it's time for another Colour Create Challenge. Our colours this week are chosen by Judy and they're a lovely combination of Duck Egg Blue and Rose with an option of Stitching, real or faux. Thanks Judy, absolutely love these colours and faux stitching is one of my favourite things to do on my cards so I really enjoyed this one. Hope you can join in this week and if you need some inspiration pop over to the blog for some fantastic ideas from my lovely DT friends, they'll certainly make your eyes pop!

I chose some Cosmo Cricket paper as it seemed to be a perfect shade of the blue for the challenge and I stamped it with a Paper Artsy music score stamp and some Personal Impressions swirls in Tattered Rose distress ink, unfortunately it's quite subtle and I don't think it shows up too well in the photograph. I distressed the edges. added stickles to the swirls and attached to the card after putting in some eyelets (yes you read it correctly I finally managed to set some eyelets courtesy of the Silent Setter kindly given to me by my friend Sandra!), and attaching a little tag I made from an off cut of the pink card with some sheer ribbon. Added the big flowers which have been sponged with tattered rose distress ink, stickled and a candy gem placed in the centre. I used my digi image 'Elise prepares' and coloured her with markers and I've also stamped some more of the swirls in pink over her leotard and added stickles for some sparkle. She's cut out and mounted on glue gel. I did my faux stitching around the edges of the paper and the card with a pink sparkle gel pen. Hope you're having a great weekend. TFL. Chris x
