Basic Grey Challenges 9 - Sketch

Hi everyone, hope your weekend is off to a good start. Time for another BasicGrey Challenge and this week there's a great sketch to follow which I loved by our lovely Tara G, thanks T. I love everything the rest of my DT friends have done with the sketch, there's some wonderful inspiration so I hope you can join us this time. Our sponsor is Simon Says Stamp and so a great prize is on offer.

I've flipped the sketch right round, used a triangular gold pearlescent card base then cut some red bazzil as the next layer, this has been doodled on with a gold metallic pen. The next layer is some raffia ribbon (think that's what it's called?) followed by a layer of BG Eskimo Kisses paper that's been torn around the edges. Next is another layer of the red bazzil that I've embossed with a Swiss Dots embossing folder and swiped with gold ink. For the sentiment I've used a punched snowflake and then I've cut out my distress ink watercoloured Whiff of Joy 'Wee and Reindeer' image and placed on top and glittered with stickles. For the two small circles top and bottom I've used gems. TFL.

Magnolia ‘Santa on Christmas Eve’

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a good week so far. I’ve managed to do two challenges with this card, Everybody Art Challenge where the theme is Christmas and My time to craft where the challenge is ‘Very Vintage’. I’ve used the gorgeous Magnolia ‘Santa on Christmas Eve’ and the ‘Fir Twig’ background stamps and the card just kept getting bigger and bigger so it’s a huge card cut from a pre-folded A4 card blank, so I think this will go to one of the family, I like to give them big cards.

I stamped then masked Santa and then stamped the background in and watercoloured with distress inks. There’s some gold metallic pen on the belt buckle, lantern and boots and also some glaze on the bet and boots but the camera hasn’t picked that up. I made a frame from some Doodlebug embossed velvet paper and placed that over the top of the image with dimension tape. The snowflake is cut with a cuttlebug die and then glittered with chunky glitter. I stamped the Penny Black sentiment stamp in red ink and then cut out with a Nestabilities labels die. Everything else quite straightforward really, snowflake punched white bazzil, red bazzil layer, faux stitching, stickles, sponging and a big bow.

I’m still playing catch up, but not actually catching up at all, I think everyone is the same at the moment, not enough hours in the days. Still on a mission to get Christmas cards done and not getting very far with that either :D. See you tomorrow with my Craft Barn post. TFL.

Magnolia Wrapped Tilda

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a good weekend! A card today using the holly letter stamp and the sweet Wrapped Tilda stamp, I think she’s gorgeous and very sweet so I’m entering the card into the Roses on Paper Challenge where this week the challenge is ‘romance or sweet’.

Tilda has been masked so that I could have her sitting on the envelope and then water coloured with distress inks with added copic spica pen and stickles. The white background card has been embossed with the CB snowflakes embossing folder and is then mounted on pink core’dinations card. Going along with the wrapped theme I've made this fold up style card so that Tilda is hidden inside, I think this allows me to enter the ABC challenge this week where the theme is ‘hidden’.

I cut some kraft cardstock 12inches by 8 inches, scored on the long side at 4 inches and 8 inches and on the short side at 4 inches and cut off the two outside 4 inch squares leaving the square in the middle at the bottom, I also cut the two wrapover pieces into points to give the envelope look. There are stamped snowflakes all over the kraft card in white ink inside and out and I’ve also done faux stitching along all the edges with a pink sparkle pen. Added more pink and white card to the bottom panel and a few snowflakes around the edges in antique linen distress ink. To tie up the card I placed the ribbon behind the pink panel on the base of the card, punched a hole through the two out side flaps and threaded the ribbon through the hole plus a punched snowflake. I added some clear gems to the stamped snowflakes to add some more sparkle. Well I hope to get round some blogs to comment during the week, haven’t had much time over the last week or so and I need to catch up. As always, thank you for all the lovely comments you leave, I always appreciate them so much. TFL.

Colour Create 32 – Green, Red and White

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

Hi everyone, there’s a new challenge on Colour Create today and it’s a gorgeous Christmassy combo chosen by our lovely Mina, thanks Mina, loved this one, these are my favourite Christmas colours. So the colours are green, red and white and the option is Christmas, hope you can join us this time, there’s some amazing inspiration from my DT friends which will make you want to go off and make Christmas cards :D!! Our sponsor for this challenge is Simon Says Stamp so there’s a lovely prize on offer too.
For my card I’ve followed a great sketch on Friday Sketchers which I’m also entering my card into

Jacque78
and I’ve used one of the gorgeous Whiff of Joy gnome stamps, Uru and bird which is coloured with distress inks. The paper is by K&Co from Christmas speciality pad, I’ve sponged all the edges with white ink and done some faux stitching. On the green bazzil card I’ve stamped a magnolia fir tree branch in white ink and then added stickles, I did the same with the flowers but without the stickles. To finish off I added some buttons to the flowers and some chenille fibre to the one at the bottom and a Woodware sentiment stamped in white ink which I’ve gone over with a white gel pen. TFL.

Ready Steady Stamp 9 – Christmas Banner

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

Hi everyone, I’ve joined in with the challenge on Ready Steady Stamp which has an ongoing theme for the next few weeks and which I thought was a great idea. The challenge is to make a Christmas Banner over the next few challenges by making one or more parts of it with the set of ingredients posted on each new challenge and on the last one you make your banner up in time for Christmas. Here are the ingredients for the first part of the bunting.

I’ve chosen green, cream, gold and white as my colour scheme and you have to stick to the colours you choose throughtout. For my stars I used the star from Joi de Noel set available at the Craft Barn and then I’ve heat embossed with clear embossing powder over the top. I’ve stamped some smaller gold stars from an old Woodware set randomly around and I’ve also cut three out and popped them up on foam pads. I chose glitter from ing. 3 and have used plenty of Stardust Stickles. I’ve done some sponging with Antique Linen distress ink for the cream part of my colour scheme and I’ve also sponged with gold metallic ink and done a bit of doodling with a gold gel pen. There are some gold stamped Chistmas words from the Woodware set and embossed the green background piece of the banner with a stars embossing folder then swiped over the raised stars with the gold ink. I really enjoyed making this and I’m looking forward to the next one and seeing how they all fit together at the end or if they fit together at all :D! Thanks to Fiona for making her beautiful tag so that I found the challenge.  TFL.

Multi Challenge Card

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a good weekend. I’ve managed to make a card that covers five challenges and it’s not often that that happens for me :), the first is Cute Card Thursday, glitter me silly and my card is well glittered :), can’t seem to make a card without stickles! The Craft Garden has a theme of sparkle too, Secret Crafter have a theme of the four seasons and I’ve chosen winter, By the Cute and Girly have a winter wonderland theme. At Allsorts this week they’d like to see a card for a child and this cute mouse is suitable for that I think.
I’ve used this cute Whiff of Joy Henry Mouse stamp, coloured it with copic markers and then I’ve gone over most of it with a copic spica clear glitter pen, a sakura sparkle gel pen on the step and lots of Stardust stickles. The layers are cut with nestabilities labels dies and the background paper is BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses which is getting a good outing this week, and everything is edge sponged with Tattered Rose distress ink. I’ve done faux stitching with a Pentel white hybrid pigment ink gel pen and I’ve found that this is best white ink pen I’ve used, much better than the inkssentials as the ink is very white and flows really nicely. To decorate I also added some white tulle from the lovely Tab at Tabbycrafts, some glittery flowers and clear gems. TFL.

BasicGrey 8 – Glitz and Bling

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

Hi everyone, another BasicGrey challenge has rolled round, I don’t know where the weeks are going! This time we have a lovely theme of Glitz and Bling and a great Indian Summer themed prize from our sponsor Simon Says Stamp. There’s wonderful inspiration from my DT friends, so I hope you can join us.

I’ve used my gorgeous sitting Tilda with glitter so she’s perfect for this challenge and I’ve coloured her with distress inks then cut her out. The papers are from BG Eskimo Kisses and I’ve die cut some with oval nestabilities and punched the bottom layer with an EK Success scalloped punch. The sentiment is a die cut and the test is metallic red but it’s not showing up too well. I did a bit of doodling with a white gel pen, and went over Tilda’s hair, dress and socks with a Spica glitter pen for some more glitz, was generous with my favourite stardust stickles then added a bow and some sparkly star gems to the hairband and background to finish. Have a great weekend in the blustery weather if you’re in the UK! TFL.

Crazy for Challenges – Easel card

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>
Hi everyone, hope you’re all having a good week so far and to everyone who went to the NEC, I hope you had a great time!
This is one of the sample cards I made for the Craft Barn with another lovely Motivet stamp which they now have available and the easel style which I think is my favourite at the moment lets me enter it into the Crazy for cards challenge.  The colouring is with copic markers and the paper is Eskimo Kisses by BasicGrey. I’ve cut a nestie label shape for the bottom of the card and added a Craftwork Cards sentiment. The snowflakes are punched with a Martha Stewart punch and I added some wide ribbon and stickles to finish. TFL.

Crafty Cardmakers challenge

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

Hi everyone, hope your weekend is off to a good start. I’ve made a card for the Crafty Cardmakers challenge which is a challenge I’ve only just found. This time the challenge is to just have some stamping on your card with the optional extra of using a stamping technique you haven’t used before or some paper piecing, resist etc.

I’ve used this cute Motivet stamp from the new Christmas collection available at the Craft Barn and coloured it with copics then added stickles and some doodling and cut out with a circle nestability. I’ve cut some BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses paper for the scalloped circle and matting layer underneith and I’ve embossed a piece of whitewashed Core’dinations card using a Crafts Too stars embossing folder which I’ve then sanded and also coloured in some of the stars. I suppose my option is that I’ve used paper with pinky colours in it for a Christmas card, I usually tend to go for more traditional Christmas colours but I really like these in the Eskimo Kisses collection that have a lot of pinks. I’ve added more doodling around the edges, some red tulle and a craftwork cards sentiment. TFL.

DU2DS 25 and Just Magnolia Featured Stamper

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

Hi everyone, Friday again and time for another DU2DS challenge. This time our DT friend Larissa has designed a great sketch for us to follow which we all enjoyed using and we hope you can join us. There are some digital images for a prize and some great inspiration from my DT friends.  I’ve used a soon to be available digi ‘Got Turkey’ which is coloured with copics and then cut out, I’ve also put some glaze on his eyes and nose and added some sparkle with a copic spica clear gel pen on the turkey. The paper is by K&Co and I’ve distressed all the edges with scissors. I added some doodling around the edge of the card blank, a ribbon, gem and a doodlebug sentiment to finish off.

sketch_Larissa 2

I was delighted to be asked by Bev and Jacquie to be a featured stamper on the Just Magnolia Challenge and I’ve done a little picture ‘how to’ for distressing which is up on the challenge now. Thank you very much ladies for inviting me, I really enjoyed doing it. This is the card I made to go along with the how to and it was made to one of Rach’s lovely sketches from a few weeks back.

This gorgeous Tilda was coloured with copics and cut out. I used some dark pink card for the layers and BasicGrey Lemonade papers.

<KENOX S860  / Samsung S860>

I’m hoping to have something to post tomorrow but if not hope you have a good weekend. If anyone is going to the Craft Barn Mini Fest on Saturday, I’ll be there demonstrating the new Little Clair stamps and I hope to catch up with you there. Also, if anyone is going to the NEC on Sunday, I’ll be demonstrating on the Magnolia Stamps stand for a couple of hours in the morning and it would be great to meet anyone who’s going to be there too. Colour Create 31 – white, blue and silver

Karen's photo challenge

Hi everyone, time for a new challenge on Colour Create. This time our combo has been chosen by Karen and is a gorgeous choice of blue, silver and white, thanks Karen, I loved this one, they’re a perfect set of colours for Christmas. The options this time are winter and glitter but these aren’t compulsory. My DT friends have some amazing cards for this challenge and I hope you can join us. Our sponsor is Handy Hippo so there’s a lovely prize to be won.

I’ve made a gatefold card and used a new Motivet stamp from their Christmas range available at the Craft Barn. Colouring is with copics and the paper is Imaginisce, I think this one is so pretty but it’s actually the reverse side of the main pattern, I love the blue. The image is cut out with a Nestabilities die and I’ve edged it with silver ink. I added some punched snowflakes, a Craftwork Cards greeting, ribbon and gems to finish. TFL.

Quick Post

Hi everyone, a quick post from me today and no card to show. I do have a link to a site I just found, www.picnik.com which is a great free photo editing program with lots of great automatic effects buttons, I’ve done the mirror style frames on the photo’s above which is one of the features  and it’s very quick and easy when you just want to edit some pics to blog quickly. I found the site through Shimelle.com where I’ve just signed up for an online class, Blogging for Scrapbookers, I saw that one of my blog friends Jacky had signed up so I went to have a look. I don’t really scrapbook but am always saving bits and pieces and taking photo’s so that I can and I do want to get going with it, hence the photo’s above, I thought this might give me a kick start and it already has as I loved a couple of Shimelle’s concepts immediately, it was a good start.
The lovely Tara has passed me an award, thank you for thinking of me T, it’s much appreciated and now I have to try and think of answers for the questions which you have to answer with one word! If you haven’t got this one yet, it’s over to you :D!!
