Paperbabe Stamps Challenge 97 - Sketch

Hi every one, hope you've had a good week. There's a new challenge starting on the Paperbabe Stamps Blog today and this fortnight the theme is a Sketch which can be interpreted in many ways. s

I made a card with the  Female Face Dinky Stamp Set, Mixed Media Templates ~ Portrait Face Dinky Set and a Roses Stencil.

Although it's not that obvious I started off with gel plate print which gave me a duotone of pink and blue, the pink at the bottom gave me the background colour for the face.

I used pastels for colouring, distress oxide inks through the stencil and created the bottom diagonal section from the sketch by using a die cut stencil and adding lots of glitter glue on and under it.

Hope you can join us in the challenge, as always there's a lovely prize from Kim.

Have a lovely weekend.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge 96 - Spots and Stripes

Hi everyone, hope you've had a good week. There's a new challenge today on the Paperbabe Stamps Blog where the theme this time is 'spots and stripes'.

I made a card for a lovely friend using the gorgeous new Profile Face Right Dinky Stamp Set and the Mixed Media Template Set Profile Face Right these are for sale at an incredible price at the moment.

I started off this project with a left over gel print that had some splashes of gold paint in with some pink and peach toned distress Oxide inks. I'm enjoying using some WOW Pearl Gold Sparkle embossing powder at the moment as it's the first one I've found that keeps it's sparkle. I used it for the spots element of the challenge sponging embossing ink through a medium spot stencil and then embossing with the powder.

The stripes element is added by scraping out some stripes with a craft knife from the gold cardstock which has kraft core and I really like the texture this gives. The colouring is Prismacolor Pencils over a base of Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic in Nougat and Terracotta.

I hope you'll join us in the challenge, there's a lovely prize from Kim for the winner.

Have a great weekend!

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge 95 - Picture Inspiration - Floral Constructions & New Release

Hi everyone, there's a new challenge on the Paperbabe Stamps Blog today where we have a lovely inspiration photograph to work from.

There's also a new release of stamps and templates in great new dinky sizes just right for all the smaller projects such as cards, tags and ATCs so I'm sure they're all going to be flying off the Paperbabe shelves. I'm sure they'll be very popular for cards especially as with a set of face stamps and a set of templates there are many options and combinations to put together for a new look every time.

I enjoyed putting together my concertina booklet to show some variations in the figures using different hairstyles and skin tones and using the different face/template shapes. The new roses and leaves and the little daisy type flower, crown and alphabet sets are the perfect accents.

I started off my project by cutting and scoring my card each panel of which is roughly ATC size. After that I've used Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics and a baby wipe to apply several different colours over the entire piece which is a very quick way to start off. I find I get a better result if I don't think about it too much, just dab it on and re-work when it's dry if I don't like parts of it.

The new Dinky templates are my starting point for the figures, I used them to put paint through and then I stamped over them and added a bit of rough sketchy shading with pencils.

There are all the hairstyles in the Dinky templates and some new styles too, I mixed and matched around my figures and sometimes used different hair stencil parts from different sets to create my own hairstyles, it's very easy to make the figures your own. I love that the dinky face stamps are a complete face stamp too, very easy to work with at this size.

The little flowers and the new alphabet stamp sets are great accents and I added some paper clipping words to meld into the background. I coloured all the negative space around the figures, the word stamping and roses with black pen and stamped the little daisies over the top of it. Some doodling and glitter glue finishes everything off.

All the new releases are now in the Paperbabe Stamps shop ready to fly off the shelves and there's lots of inspiration from my team mates on the Paperbabe Stamps Challenge blog.

Have a lovely weekend!

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge 47 - Anything Goes

Hi everyone, hope you're all well and are looking forward to the weekend. It's the start of another challenge at Paperbabe Stamps blog and this time it's everyone's favourite of 'Anything Goes'!

I made a Christmas Tree decoration using one of favourite Paperbabe stamp sets 'Bottle Brush Trees', I love the little fir trees that make such a great scene when stamped next to each other. I stamped them in Brilliance Ivy ink which has a slight gold sheen to it over white paint and versamagic chalk ink background then I stamped the snowflakes in white and silver brilliance ink. I used an Artcuts birch heart which are the perfect size for hanging on the tree and I gave it some sparkle with Cosmic Shimmer glitter jewels and tinsel trim for hanging it up.

I hope you' ll join us in the challenge and you don't need to use Paperbabe stamps in order to join in.

Hi everyone, it's the start of a new challenge at Paperbabe Stamps and this time we have a great inspiration photo to work from. As always there's a voucher to be won and you don't have to use Paperbabe stamps to enter so I hope you can join us.

I made a Halloween tag using the Dillon Batwings image stamp and then stamps from the great design building stamp set Design a Tweed to bring in the hounds tooth element from the inspiration photo.

I've got some of the beige colour in my background too.

Dillon is coloured with watercolour and pencils and other stamping is done with pigment inks.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge 43 - Anything Goes

Hi everyone, hope you had a good week. We have the new challenge starting today on the Paperbabe Stamps blog and this week it's everyone's favourite theme 'Anything Goes' and with a great prize from Kim, we hope you'll join us.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 3D Dia de los Muertos girl using lots of gorgeous goodies from September release. I'm so pleased with how she came out as I've been eagerly awaiting the Sugar Skull stamps since Kim told me she was designing them, I like something a bit different and this set which matches up with the female face mini stamps and the new substrates and accessories will be great for that end of October festival :-D. I might put this out on the step so everyone knows we have Halloween goodies!

I used the Portrait Media Blanks - Blunt Bangs Long Kit, Mixed Media Blanks Accessories kits Candles, Flourishes, Skulls and Crosses and Roses together with the Sugar Skull Mini and the Female Face Mini stamp sets. I painted with Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Paints, they're great for quickly coating all the substrate pieces and I added a bit of shading with charcoal pencil.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #40 - Inspiration Photo

Hi everyone, it's the start of a new challenge at Paperbabe Stamps today and this fortnight we have a photograph as inspiration to work from. As always a great prize is on offer for the winner and we hope you'll join us even if you don't have Paperbabe Stamps.

I used one of my all time favourite Paperbabe stamps, MayLeeDee Kimono, it's a while since I coloured her and I've enjoyed making a little woodland scene around her by masking her with sweet stamps from the newly released Whimsical Woodland stamps Whimsical Woodlands stamp set 3 (Bunny) and Whimsical Woodlands Stamp Set 4 (Butterfly). I also coloured a little fibreboard mushroom from the Whimsical Woodland Fibreboard Substrate kit as an embellishment.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge 38 -Anything Goes

Hi everyone, Challenge 38 starts today on the Paperbabe Stamps blog and we have kept things simple again this time with an 'anything goes' theme as we also have the Paperbabe Stamps 3rd Anniversary Blog Hop next week.

I've used an Artcuts birch ply heart with a distressed paint effect on the background and featured one of the very useful tiny heart stamps as well as the two step largest butterfly stamps in the Butterfly Pieridae set.

I stamped the base layer of the butterfly with Victorian Velvet Distress Paint and the top layer with Black Archival ink. I've added a bit of highlighting with a white distress marker and coloured in the border hearts with distress markers.

Back soon.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #34 - Anything Goes

Hi everyone, it's a new challenge on Paperbabe Stamps Blog starting today and this fortnight the theme is 'Anything Goes'! Everyone's favourite theme so I hope you can join us, there's a prize too as always.

I've made a mixed media card Chris using the Mixed Media Stencils Knit and Polka Dots, Wonderland Check and Art Quote Logic and Creativity stamps with lots of layers of stencilling and stamping with paint and distress crayons over a base layer of a pretty napkin.

The napkin isn't that obvious by the time all the layers are finished but it definitely adds to the richness of the effect. I'm very fond of this Art Quote sentiment of Kim's and how it's designed with different fonts and sizes of text. I stamped it onto white card then when the Archival ink was dry covered it in a layer of matte multi medium to preserve it. I then went over the top with distress crayons and you can see the texture of the brush strokes in the multi medium which harmonizes with the texture of the background.

Have a lovely weekend and I'll be back next week with the Paperbabe Stamps July Release which is a fantastic new product to be added to Kim's line.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge - Sketch

Hi everyone, we're starting a new challenge on The Paperbabe Stamps blog today and this fortnight we have a sketch to work to.

As always there's a lovely prize from Kim so I hope you can join us.

I made a card making up all the elements from the sketch using Butterfly Pieridae stamps together with the mixed media stencils - Polka Dots. I worked some distress crayon in various colours into the large Polka stencil for the torn card piece which I embellished with black pen doodling little spirals.

I removed ink from the purple card piece with a baby wipe through the smallest dot stencil and highlighted with white pen. The large polka dot butterfly is stamped with Luxe ink and again after cutting out is embellished with black pen.

Have a lovely weekend.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge 33 - Inspiration Photo

Hi everyone, there's a new challenge starting today on Paperbabe Stamps blog and this time we have a photo as inspiration. As always there's a lovely prize to be won from Kim, I hope you can join us.

I decorated an Artcuts birch wood tag decorated using the stamps Art Quote 'Light from within', Pop Dots, Pixel Fun, and Rose Border.

The background of the tag is painted black and then stamped in white paint using various stamps from the above sets to create a pattern inspired by the photo. The Art Quote sentiment which is a favourite is stamped in black and the roses in black ink which I've cut out and layered up on dimension foam.

Have a lovely weekend and I'll be back with the Paperbabe Stamps May Release next week.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge 32 - Birthdays

Hi everyone hope you've had a good week and judging by weather here in the UK at the moment we're all set for typical Bank Holiday weekend weather, hopefully we've finished with the snow at least for this week!

At Paperbabe Stamps blog we're starting a new challenge with Birthdays being the theme, I hope you can join us and as always there's a lovely prize on offer from Kim.

I've made a mixed media style birthday card using the new male face mini stamp set and the mixed media templates men - mini portrait. I was playing around with a PaperArtsy Infusions background initially and tried out the templates and stamps over the top. I added shading with watercolour pen and charcoal over the background then doodled the border in black and white Sakura pens. To finish off I added some Tim Holtz rub-ons and white stamped stars from the stamp set.

Have a lovely weekend.

Paperbabe Stamps challenge 29

Hi everyone, it's a new challenge at Paperbabe Stamps blog today and for this fortnight the challenge is '9 weeks 'til Christmas' . As always there's a great prize from Kim and any stamps are welcome.

I've used several Paperbabe stamp sets and they're stamped over a blended ink background on Artcuts birch ply shapes. On the heart shape I've stamped over a blue and white ink background with a stamp from 'Spritz and Speckles' for a snowy effect followed by the stag, and several small stamps and reindeer names from 'Reindeer Fusions' then I've added a dotted border in white pen. The stag came out quite well considering I stamped onto wood; I added a bit of colour with watercolour markers and wink of stellar glitter pen which shows up quite well in the photo above.

I've added a bit of dimension around the stag with a mid grey marker blended out with water. The stag was stamped in brown brilliance ink and I used that to edge the heart as well.

As before I blended a blue and white ink background over the tag and then stamped with the Christmas text stamp 'a lot like Christmas' in white ink. Over the top I've stamped with several stamps from 'Sparkle Bright' in different coloured inks around the tag and I finished with a white pen dot border.

I hope you'll join us for the challenge.

Back soon,

Chris x
